Be Seen For Fashion Sake

Dear Fashionistas,

If you haven't noticed by now, color has taken over the fashion scene by storm and isn't stopping with the change of season.  In fact, it is more, More, MORE!  Wear it loud and proud many top designers are insisting and we at Fashionista Chicago couldn't agree more.   With the electric colors in every hue we say good-bye to the LBP (little black pants) and hello color.  To get your color fix try these divine elements to capture your best look;

1. Vintage Matchstick Cord @ J.CREW
2. Colored Trousers $35.90 @ ZARA
3. The Ballad True Camel $172.00 @ Adriano Goldschmied
4. 1969 Mid-Weight Legging Jeans $69.95 @ GAP

Five Star Frocks For Chicago's Warm Months

Dear Fashionistas,
Don't you just love a good dress to wear throughout the warm months? Lets face it, Chicago only has three good months of warm weather to really enjoy light flowing materials.  So I gathered a few of my favorites that can be worn strolling along the shopping districts, grabbing lunch with friends or meeting for a cocktail at Trump Tower.   The best part - is that they are all reasonably priced and located in Chicago.

1. Marlowe - 800 North Michigan Avenue.  This wool silk pleated dress is stunning.  It is the epitome of elegance and will get you through luncheons to cocktails for many years to come.

2. Cerato - 3451 North Southport Avenue. This Vienna dress by Chicago designer Sophia Reyes is stunning with it's vibrant color and designed with perfect proportion's.  This dress is a must-have to show off your flirty femininity side.

3. Zara - Block 37-1 West Randolph.  Leather is the "it" textile this S/S2011 and Zara is making it accessible and fun with this little ruffle leather number. Make this a Chicago streetstyle by pairing it with your black patent leather lace-up heels and skinny belt.

4. Neiman Marcus - 737 North Michigan Avenue.  T-Bags is one of the stylish designers at Neiman Marcus that is "yes" affordable.  The striped halter maxi is designed with all shapes in mind.  A banded empire waist and gathered bodice makes this dress wearable for both day and night.

Which one will you wear this summer?

Resort 2011-ready to wear

Dear Fashionistas,

Are you ready for the resort collection 2011?  It certainly is difficult to grasp in Chicago while we are under freezing temperatures seven days a week.  But some of us will be enjoying warm weather (we are crossing our fingers) over the holidays and need to look our best while sipping a piña colada beach side or strolling along the palm tree lined shopping district.

The resort collection is a time where the designers put together style pieces to help climb out of the of winter doldrums. This year the collection is filled with earth-toned shades, a rainbow of color mixed with prints and fantastic soft fabrics.  Lot's of clean crisp structures along with flowing skirts and dresses.  There is something for everyone and I am here to help you find a few pieces to help you pack the latest and greatest to pair with items you may already have in your closet.

1. I love this Club Monaco blouse.  It is so feminine and chic. A bit of vintage flair with a modern twist.  I would wear this piece paired with off white wide leg pants or skinny pants and layer it with a soft cardigan for the evening.  Add a fabulous long chain necklace to tie it all together. Club Monaco is located on Damen Ave.

2. Nanette Lepore on Damen Ave. has a few pieces I would like to snag for my suitcase. Pair this exaggerated romance blouse with blouson sleeves and ruffled trim with dark skinny jeans  and your set for comfort and style!

3. For a splash of color, I adore this red tulip dress at Zara located on Michigan Ave.  Keep it simple and don't worry about accessorizing as this dress is already making a statement!
