All Leathered Up! 3 Styles To Get You Rockin

Dear Fashionistas,

The seasons have turned just as our style.   So that means its time to break out the leather. Exotic fabrics and furs are showing up on every top, bottom, dress and accessory.   Leather is one hot commodity this season.  Whether you are wearing it from head-to-toe or as an accessory, you can’t make a mistake.  A playful version on how to wear leather is mixed in with other fabrics, and textures.  We at Fashionista Chicago love soft sweaters with leather paneling on the arms.  But you will see leather with fringe, leather and fur, leather and chains and leather and denim.  So...pick your poison and strut your choice of hide.

Our must-have pieces are the mustard color Katie Gallagher leather jacket.  It’s edgy and sophisticated.  Alice + Olivia dark red leather pants are easy to dress up or down.  Pair them with a white or cream knit top to complete the look. If you have an event this year where you want to make a grand entrance and turn heads, step out in the all leather gold and taupe floor length dress by Derek Lam... to die for!

Two favorite shopping stops to stay on trend is the rustic and über sexy All Saints  and the UK fashion glam franchise, Topshop on Michigan Avenue. So go out and find which piece of this rocker trend suits you the best, whether it be a little pair of DVF gloves or full on leather jacket or dress.

Stay Stylish Chicago,

Fashionista Chicago Collaborator

A Major Retailer Offers A Stylish Eco-Friendly Collection. Who?

Photograph from www. H&M.com
Dear Fashionistas,
Our inspiration today comes from a two-part fashion-economics shopping trend we spotted recently at H&M (840 North Michigan Avenue). No sweating over the worn out plastic because we got a luxe look for less and a eco-friendly collection.  To find pieces that look so chic, reasonably priced and environmentally conscious, can be a difficult achievement. But, H&M keeps us on our toes by offering a Eco-friendly collection made out of organic hemp for a more sustainable fashion future.

We love that the sheer organic cotton sweater is machine washable too.

Flared Skirt $59.95
Sweater $39.95
Fitted Dress $79.95

Exclusive Tour with T.J. Maxx

Dear Fashionistas,

Fashionista Chicago had the privilege to receive an exclusive walk-thru with T.J.Maxx Marketing guru Mikinzie Stuart from New York.  FC wanted to know just how does T.J.Maxx and Marshalls score such fabulous prices on cutting edge designers? It's no secret, their pocketbook is large and with that type of buying power one can see how they receive the incredible price-breaks.
Showcasing designers such as Max Mara, Cynthia Rowley, Coach and Theory, we made it easy for you to navigate the store by following these simple steps:

1.  Shop the aisle racks - This is where T.J. Maxx and Marshalls place their top designers to be sure they get ample visibility.

2.  Get to know your stores layout -  Knowing where the store features their top designers will help you navigate through the store.

3.  Shop often!  T.J.Maxx and Marshalls receive more than 10,000 new items each week (In every store).

4. Look for purple tags -   These tags are placed on elite brands found in high-end department stores (Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue) which means, if you see this, be sure to buy it.  You won't find a better price anywhere else.

5. Get to know your Manager - They know the inside scoop on the brands and will let you know when the one you are looking for arrives.

The T.J. Maxx on Fullerton Ave. has the above items now.  Don't miss out.
1. Calvin Klein Dress  2. Coach Ballerina Shoes  3.  Cynthia Rowley Tote   4.  Theory High Collar Coat

Chicago Accessory Designer K.Amato is Golden

Dear Fashionistas,

When we say the "icing on the cake" we don't mean it literally as in "frosting".  It is the key and last item to complete your ensemb.  With Chicago native Kristen Amato paving the way with stylish jewelry, you can be certain this is just the piece you need.
The pieces are accented by gold-filled chains, turquoise stones, delicate gold leaves, feminine filigree drops and hammered geometric shapes; K Amato jewelry offers the perfect blend of fashion-forward yet classic pieces for every wardrobe and every season. Featured in magazines including: Vogue, Lucky, People and U.S. Weekly.  This affordable line has captured even a few celebrities such as Eva Longoria and Rachel Ray.
Our favorite part however is not the Suh-weeeet prices but the names of the pieces which are named after the streets in the windy city.

Check out the complete line by clicking here.

Fall Fashion Arrives at 2 Sisters Boutique

Dear Fashionistas,

2 Sisters Boutique is not just a name but a real tag-team duo that discovers the season'e most wanted trends.  Gina O'Donnell and Elaina Bonacci started 2 Sisters Boutique six years ago in Park Ridge, and opened another shopping destination in the city, finally landing in North Center (3828 North Lincoln Ave.) after a short trial in the West Loop.  They were looking for a neighborhood vibe with customers who have a sense of style but don't want to break the bank.  O'Donnell and Bonacci's success has been due to the fact you don't pay more than $100 for anything and of course keeping one-step ahead on style.  With most items coming from LA, the boutique is stocked with items you won't find anywhere else.

Currently in-stock: the Shagadelic vests and pullover poncho's.  Faux fur fashion is all the rave!  The cape crusader is hot off the runway too.  Fortunately,  the style is short this year so your hand doesn't get caught while flipping the plastic at the register.

2 Sisters is filled with fun unique pieces and embellished accessories. A must-stop for all Fashionista Chicago readers!  2 Sisters is offering 20% off for two weeks just by mentioning fashion blog, Fashionista Chicago!

Anastasia Chatzka Holiday 2011 Under The Stars

Dear Fashionistas,
When we say "under the stars" we mean just that.  Last Wednesday Chatzka presented her holiday collection "under the stars" at Tocco Italian restaurant outside on their Chicago style piazza.  Fashionista Chicago had director seating to capture the amazing selection of the bold and flirty pieces flouncing down the brick runway.   We love the mix of the burgundy plaid and satin solids.  Yes, we noticed that the hem line varied on multiple pieces Ms. Chatzka.   A good idea since the longer hemline is back with a vengeance.   But for some of you who can't bare to let go of a thigh-high skirt, Chatzka has plenty to offer.  You can check out her collection by appointment or visit her at her flagship store at 1740 West Division.  Be sure to check out her e-shop at www.AnastasiaChatzka.com.

Congrats on another show well done and a collection that makes a statement.

We also want to thank  Petra Ford for taking such fab pics.

Nicki
