Karl Lagerfeld Designs For Macy's

Dear Fashionistas,
They're out!  Karl Lagerfeld's world renown sketches for his new collection at Macy's.   Slated to launch August 31st in 235 stores and online at Macys.com.  The more affordable collection selling at the price point of $50 to $170 still holds up to Lagerfeld's luxurious look and feel but now available to those not so fortunate to buy his couture!  Don't wait too long to check it out however, Lagerfeld created a collection for H&M seven years ago and sold out in one day. But I heard through fashion-vine that Lagerfeld wants the collection to be a little more permanent at Macy's.  So maybe we do have half a chance to purchase a piece from the iconic fashion figure after-all.

Borris Powell Views Fall 2011 In Red

Dear Fashionistas,

Borris Powell is the Chicago darling who won the Oscar Designer Challenge with his exquisite Black Swan Dress.  He may have been hanging back stage with Karl Lagerfeld at the Oscars but he is home now to his beloved city, Chicago.

Last Friday, BJP' hosted his Fall 2011 collection fashion show at the Sheraton Hotel.  It was a packed house! Standing room only for those trying to catch a glimpse at the last minute.   BJP showed us he is mad about plaid and the color red.  (London Calling?) The tartan look is topped off with a red wool cape which I absolutely adored.  The red evening dress shown above is a one-shoulder wonder with a figure flattering bodice and a flowing skirt.  It's a dress that will be sure to stop traffic.

This will be BJP's first collection featuring separates and can be purchased at his studio at 2465 N Halsted Avenue or Studio-808.com for more details.

Dear Fashionistas,

Indulge in fabulous faux fur this season!  Faux fur is a hit with the designers (some may be going a little too far! Karl Lagerfeld maybe??) By keeping it simple and smart with the most coveted accessory this winter, you’ll be sure to be the one to stand out.

To make the most out of the faux fur look, follow these simple rules:
1.    Don’t over do it.  Buy one piece and make it your trademark.
2.    Try to find faux fur that has color variation for a look of luxe.
3.    Choose neutral for a sophisticated appearance or on the flip side,   more vibrant colors to accent your ensemble.

I love the faux fur this season because it feels so luxurious and we don’t have to worry about the animals sacrificing their lives for our fashion obsessions! Gotta feel good about that and look fabulous all the while!
