Jonnie Rettele- Nonnie Threads Launches Website

Dear Fashionistas,

As one of the designers chosen for the Chicago Fashion Incubator last year, Jonnie Rettele creates a versatile menswear collection called Nonnie Threads.  An urban inspired collection with unique detail that draws your eye to the piece.  Slanted button flaps, interesting pockets on sleeves, piping and military type collars to name a few.  I love the attention to detail that flows through the entire piece including the inside.  Nothing is left without her personal touch.  Nonnie Threads can be thought of as  understated by offering the classic fit with a utilitarian and an effortless feel.  The fabrics of cotton and twills are lightweight and versatile for all seasons and perfect for layering and of course super comfortable.
Jonnie prides herself on designing and producing here in Chicago.  She stands by staying local and demands high quality clothing.
Finally a collection to style even the toughest style divo with discriminating taste.  You can find her collection on her new website www.nonniethreads.com.  For my Fashionista Chicago readers, receive a 15% discount by entering the code: chicfashnonniespr11 at checkout. Valid through June 17th 2011.

Mail Call! Get Your English Leather Mailbag

Dear Fashionistas,

I guess I can’t stop finding great bags. What's a girl to do?
Apostrophe and Ampersand  handcrafted these incredible one-of-a-kind bags from 100 year old mailbags that includes a leather exterior and canvas interior. The leather is a distressed vintage look and the canvas interior features a graphic print of the original bag number. So each one is unique and refined but staying true to it's previous life.
These bags were a hit at NY fashion week.  So get yours soon.  You know my darlings,  there are only so many mailbags to repurpose.
Purchase them at MTO's showroom or at Chalk in Evanston!

Don't Blame It On Rio!

Dear Fashionistas,

Looks like the sultry seventies is amongst us my darlings.  The bright pinks in multi-layered jersey and organza panels sway with every step.  Hot nights dancing to your favorite salsa band in a tropical location sounds like a place to wear these bold dresses.  Marc Jacobs  RTW ties in the disco era with exotic prints.   Don't blame it on Rio though, we just can't help dreaming of steamy nights when spring is right around the corner.

BIG BOLD BRIGHT BAGS

Dear Fashionistas,

Big Bold Bright Bags are all the rage this spring.  With these bright vivid colors offered in stores now, they will surely help us snap out of the dull drum's of winter. But buyer beware: though retailers are showing vibrant colors in head-to-toe fashion, I would advise to wear sparingly.  Just a splash will do my darlings.

Blue and green tote by TOD'S: Located at 121 East Oak Street
TOD'S fine Italian made handbags are known for their impeccable taste, enviable quality and understated luxury.

Yellow Washington Mews Maryanne Tote by Kate Spade: Located at 56 East Oak Street
Kate spade, known for her chic handbags and accessories, offers this supple marbled yellow patent leather tote that is finished with a chic metal strap.

Red Shoulder Bag by Jill Sander:  Located at 48 East Oak Street
Jill Sander is known for her minimalist aesthetics of the 90's. This German designer has made her way into showing more pops of color thanks to the new appointed creative director Raf Simons. This bold shoulder bag is made out of strong resistant deer leather.

All bags look great with jeans, a flouncy short skirt, a long dress or a tailored black suit.

I hope you like my bags for spring.  What are your favorites?  Send me a picture and I will post it!

Nicki

3. Frette is known for their luxurious bedside manor.  But I found these charming mink mittens with a shiny tie-up ribbon closure and had to post them for one of the last-minute luxurious gift ideas.  Made in Italy and 100% mink.  I wish they were big enough to add my whole body to snuggle in.  Located at 41 E. Oak Street.

4. Loris on Armitage is famous for her shoe selection offers these great Uggs.  Dig the Mongolian sheep's hair cuffing the top for a very stylish and oh so chic look.  Genuine sheepskin lining will keep you warm from the winter elements already in place.  Loris is located at 824 W. Armitage Ave.

5. Sephora, all things fragrant offers a delicious smelling perfume balm ring from Marc Jacobs.  The oversized ring opens to reveal a solid fragrance that is fresh and feminine.  Great idea for a stocking stuffer! This ring is located at 108 North State Street.
